The notions of elsewhere, travel, and movement is a common source of inspiration for artists. Whether this movement is willed, inspired, or thrust upon us, this conference will examine various artistic figures that have integrated the elsewhere into their operatory mode or their representations from the Middle Ages to today. This conference is offered as part of Randa Maroufi’s CACC exhibition, « The Other as Host ».

    BIOGRAPHY OF MADELEINE MATHÉ

Madeleine Mathé has directed the CACC since 2012. For it, she develops programming dedicated to supporting contemporary art and graphic design, and to familiarising the broader public with current art practices. Envisioning the art centre as an experimental platform for the emergent art scene, the exhibitions offered bring to light the extensive thought of their artists in the early years of their artistic life.
